about

It was during the recording of 'Pig Tail World' that Dr. Rhythm quit the band. He said it was because we were fighting too much and he couldn't take the tension, but we found out later he'd been dipping liberally into the prescription meds. Well, whatever his reason , we had a dilemma on our hands. We'd booked the studio months in advance and couldn't afford to hire another drummer, or to buy some drums. (Being a doctor, Dr. Rhythm was the only band member who actually had any money).

So we improvised. We started recording percussion tracks with any objects that happened to be lying around. A cardboard box as a snare drum? Sure. You'll hear a typewriter on 'Accident Prone' and 'Ice & Snow'. We used pots, pans and bottles on 'Throw Some Love My Way' and 'Crashing'. Well after a couple of weeks the good doctor did eventually clean up his act and he came sheepishly crawling back. He mumbled something about needing to recharge his batteries. All was forgiven, but we didn't have time to re-record drums so the household objects stayed.

Fast forward to present day: we must admit to having done some re-mastering on many of the tracks before uploading this virtual version of 'Pig Tail World'. Nothing too major. We flew the tapes up to the Grasshopper Records mastering facility on Uranus and firmed up the bottom. OK, that didn't come out right. I mean, we improved the low end on a lot of the songs. So, these here tracks are BETTER than what you'll find on the CD and that's why you have to download them. If something is better, you need it. We hope you enjoy.

Track Name: crashing
it hardly made a difference when you took my breath away
i doubt it'll make a difference if they take my place
cuz all of the time i've been crashing
and all of the time i've been crashing

i'm never gonna feel it 'til it strikes me in the abdomen
i'm never gonna see it 'til it hits me in the eye
still all of the time i've been looking
and all of the time i've been looking
and any deficiency
is prominent as you make it out to be
but that's just me

so it hardly made a difference when you took my breath away
i doubt it'll make a difference if they take my place
cuz all of the time i've been crashing
and all of the time i've been crashing
and any deficiency
is prominent as you make it out to be
but that's just me
and any deficiency
is prominent as you're making it out
still all of the time i've been crashing
and all of the time i've been looking
and all of the time i've been reaching
and all of the time i've been slacking
and all of the time i've been crashing
Track Name: pig tail world
a pony tail girl
in a pig tail world
how can you grow
eating like a bird
whenever you try
for the final word
always some cat whose job's to
stop and screw you over

it's kind of a scream
on the cocktail scene
you can survive
on polyethylene
and if you subscribe
to the magazine
you get exclusive photos
a case of no-doz
nightly in a pig tail dream

shady showers bring
phony flowers
funny chocolates bring
sunken sockets
where will they store ya
there's no place for a

pony tail girl
in a pig tail world
how can you grow
eating like a bird
whenever you try
for the final word
always some cat whose job's to
stop and screw you over
where are they gonna store ya
there isn't no place for ya
you're nothing but a pony tail girl
in a pig tail world
Track Name: accident prone
i shadow you down to the tunnel
and hang around to your right
and you squeeze yourself in the next train
and i watch you slide out of sight

and i go in the dunkin donuts
see the fluorescent light
and i ask for a medium coffee
and i take it out to the night

accident prone
can't go home
not go home
never go home

i go out scouting locations
for my impending demise
and i walk past the toyota showroom
and i walk past a couple black guys

(chorus)

i check out the situation
in a side alleyway
and i check inside somebody's window
and observe what they have to say

(chorus)
Track Name: live wire angel
live wire angel
flying around above across the sky
having a cry
anyhow

came long ago
what do you know looks like the you who came
is not the same
as you now

world full of people
notice they're not the same as you
and the ones who are true
go and change

sleeping 'til five
see how the plane turned back the clock again
did they notice anything
strange

don't let me hear you say
the thing that took you away was
just a waste of time
you sowed a perfect seed
the patience you need
is mine

live wire angel
off in the desert how's the cooking there
in a place where they care
tell them hello

took off again
flying around above across the sea
are you thinking of me
as you go
Track Name: throw some love my way
fast asleep in a car
don't throw me out
this car is really mine
i don't need you to take me nowhere

fast asleep i'm falling hard
throw some love my way
i've caught it really mine
it's gotten sick and i'll never recover

throw some love my way
throw some love my way

fast asleep with all the stars
falling down on my head
where are you really mine
in the ocean lost and set adrift

(chorus)
Track Name: kill me in the rain
water in trees climb up
and shake them
kill me in the rain
crow on your shoulder
talking to me
kill me in the rain
when she opens her mouth

i remember gardening
conversation
kill me in the rain
but you had to go and die
remember
kill me in the rain
when she opens her mouth

i can feel your breath blowing out on my face
i can feel your breath blowing out

water in trees climb up
and shake them
kill me in the rain
but you had to go and die
remember
kill me in the rain
when she opens her mouth
Track Name: disappearing
fade into the door
of a stationary store
seventeen below
hair is filling up with snow
and you come and you go

all the children stare
as you're standing on thin air
and you're here and you're there
just like batman
and you come and you go
like a suntan

words just bounce off you
stranded on a crowded avenue
and you don't
yet you do

yeah though it's never enough
please understand
that i'm disappearing
the best i can

and you come and you go
like a suntan
and you're here and you're there
just like batman
and i'm disappearing
the best i can
and i'm disappearing
just like batman
Track Name: half eyes, ice & snow
i don't
tell you how to feel about
ice and snow
i'm always the second to know
oh so slow

but when i find out
i wind up in a paddleboat
mutiny
in danger of
getting the freeze
on my knees

and then it's like i
spend my time ignoring my
ice and snow
but never when
ever i choose
to put it to use

so just don't hold out
you tell me all you know about
mercury
and demonstrate
spinning around
out of town

and since you came
got a feeling now that things will change
never to be the same
hello to fortune and fame

so baby act out
show me how you feel about
ice and snow
and then just
if you could plow me away

and later on
we were playing with those little squares
crying hey that's not fair
things flying down the cellar stairs
but i
got a feeling now that things will change
never to be the same
hello to fortune and fame

i don't
tell you how to feel about
ice and snow
i'm always the
second to know
oh so slow
so why don't you
act out
just show me how you feel about
ice and snow
and then just
if you could plow me away
and then just
melt me
Track Name: blow up
sitting there making cigarette butts
you don't know nothing
but you don't know much
somebody said it's a matter of time
we don't know nothing about it

and it pays to play it safe
you can't be safe enough
cuz you know
you blow up the one you really love

sitting there selling cyanide pills
guy displaying his employment skills
already heard about the government plan
just called a radio station

(chorus)

and did you hear about
that thing that says it's ok
i heard it was like some kind of amendment
or something

(chorus)
Track Name: ray gun
you and i could vaporize
infiltrators, sentimental spies
you don't know who i might be

tripping through all scenes of you
trying to find activities to do
we go no guide to go by

let the rain fall down
it's not when i'm not around
this is the ray gun
this is the way

every day we break our backs
guarding the moon from alien attacks
i wonder why we have to

execute the plan for you
remembering all the stuff we gotta do
to make things real enough to

(chorus)
Track Name: over my head
it's 2:02
let me tell you what we're gonna do
it's an invitation from me to you
it's over my head

they're clear in view
and you'll never see it on the news
it's an invitation you can't refuse
it's over my head
it's in my bed

frozen and blind
leave the everyday world far behind
it's an apparition inside your mind
it's over my head
it's in my bed

now someone's trying to tell me
trying to tell me
something important

forget it all
they're disappearing down the hall
it's an operation you can't recall
it's over my head
it's in my bed
Track Name: broccoli blues
the rooftop view only make your
day come and sun always take your
hope and steer you wrong
like howard hughes

the treetops melting around you
the surgeon general found you
hopelessly all wrong
broccoli blues

heard about all you do
it was in all the papers
we should have never knew
the broccoli blues

under the sound all around me
alone inside know you only
hope and made you strong
in tennis shoes

(chorus)
Track Name: ice & snow (bonus alternate version)
i don't
tell you how to feel about
ice and snow
i'm always the second to know
oh so slow

but when i find out i
